The plano-concave lens converts a beam of parallel light into divergent light rays, and the divergent light rays are reversely focused on the virtual focal point of the plano-concave lens. The focal length is negative, and one side is flat and the other is concave. Plano-concave lenses diverge a collimated beam of light from a virtual focal point and are commonly used in Galilean-type beam expanders. In use, the concave side faces the direction of the incident light and the flat side faces the focal plane to be processed. Plano-concave lenses have negative focal lengths and negative spherical aberration, which can be used to cancel out the aberrations of other lenses in the system.
